Mary T. Chapa

Mary T. Chapa passed away on August 24, 2022, at the age of 82. She will be dearly missed by her family and her friends.

Mary served the Diocese of Corpus Christi as a Eucharistic Minister from 2000 thru 2005. She was proud to serve as Catholic Daughters of Americas - Court Sor Carmen #1724, St. Anthony’s Parish, Robstown, TX, for 15 years, as their Financial Secretary from 2020-2021. Mary also was a member of the Cursillos de Cristiandad.

Mary graduated from Robstown High School in 1958. She attended Del Mar College Nursing School and graduated in 1967. After graduating, she worked as an LVN for over 45 years, devoting her life to the caring of others while raising seven children. She retired from Spohn Hospital Shoreline in 1993 (3B OB/GYN) and shortly thereafter, began working at Quality Home Health.  Mary transitioned to Dor- Ans Home Health Services as a Quality Assurance Nurse. In 2008, Mary went to work at Sacred Heart Adult Day Care as their Director. She loved the presence of others, her community, friends, and family.

Mary’s hobbies consisted of making sure she didn't miss a family function; and she was always early. She'd make her rounds visiting the sick family members and doing more than she should, of course. Mary found the most joy spending time and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Rafael V. Chapa Jr; son, Rafael Chapa 3rd; and daughters, Martha and Maricella Irma Chapa.

Left to cherish Mary’s memory are her daughter, Melinda Chapa (Roy); sons, David Chapa (Jillena), Rolando Chapa (Renae) and Roberto Chapa(Imelda); 22 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Pallbearers will be Robert Chapa, Jeremy Chapa, Marcelo Chapa, Fabian Cuevas, Leonard Suarez, Adrian Suarez. Honorary pallbearers will be Rafael Chapa IV and Ambrosio Chapa.

The family will receive condolences on Sunday, August 28, 2022, at Trevino Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara @ Port Ave from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 6:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, August 29, 2022, at 10:30 AM at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Robstown, Texas followed by the Rite of Committal and Interment at Robstown Memorial Park.
