Matilda Aleman Jasso went to rest peacefully with the Lord on October 16, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 29, 1966 to Daniel Aleman, Sr. and Guadalupe Salazar Aleman.
She was affectionately known as “Meme” and “Nina” by her family and the many children she cared for as her babysitting career started in her teens.
Matilda was a happy person and had a joyful, contagious laugh that you couldn’t help but join in. Once she started with the joke telling and funny stories, the laughter was hard to stop, especially with Dora Martinez Molina, her best friend and partner in crime. She was fun to be around and she had a close bond with her sisters and little brother, each in their own special way.
Her pride and joy were her boys. She always saw to it that they were groomed and dressed for every occasion and ready for those Olan Mills photos. She loved volunteering at their schools and was actively involved in their extra-curricular activities and fundraisers. She was very crafty and you can bet her home was appropriately decorated for every holiday. She said she had to do it for her boys, but we all know it was one of her favorite things to do.
Matilda was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and aunt. She always put her family first and made it a point to be present at all family gatherings and kept in touch with everyone on a most daily basis, especially with her mom. If there was a celebration or funeral in the Salazar, Aleman, or Jasso family, they were usually there.
She was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother, Daniel Jesus. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband of 33 years, Reynaldo Jasso, Sr.; her sons, Reynaldo Jasso, Jr. and Manuel Jesus Jasso; her Godson, Nicholas Fernandez; her siblings, Thelma Lopez (Louis), Lesbia “Lebby” Aleman, Senona “Noni” Fernandez (who took care of all her needs until the very end), Daniel Jr. (Anna); her aunt, Daria Altamirano, who was always at her side; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles in the Aleman and Salazar family.
A Holy Rosary will be recited at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, 3210 S. Padre Island Dr. Services will conclude with Interment at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
