Meleton Moreno Perez, a cherished family man, respected veteran, and vibrant soul of Three Rivers, Texas, passed away peacefully in his hometown on February 22, 2024, at the age of 78. Born on January 22, 1946, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Milton C. Perez Sr., Meleton's journey began in the same close-knit community he loved and remained a part of throughout his life.
Meleton's early years were shared with his five brothers, Gregorio Perez, Adolfo M. Perez, Joe Perez, Carlos Perez, Hector Perez, and two sisters, Christina Garza, and Mary Pence, who preceded him in death. His presence was a cornerstone in the lives of his surviving family, who will forever cherish his memory. His legacy continues through his loving wife, Rosa Perez; children, Emilda Perez (Fructoso Flores), Maria Linda Brambila (Armando), Beatrice Pedroza (Ronnie), Milton Perez III, Rebecca Todaro (Pete), Linda Rivas (Cristian), Roland Hernandez, and Juan Hernandez (Priscilla). His numerous grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy, will also hold onto the wisdom and love he imparted.
Meleton's life was further enriched by the companionship of his siblings, with whom he shared an unbreakable bond. He is survived by his sisters, Gloria Hernandez (Rick), Guadalupe P. Spaller, Delia Cristan (Robert); and brothers, Inery Perez (Rosie), Manuel Perez (Nancy), David Perez (Sylvia), and Luis Perez. Together, they formed an unyielding family unit founded on mutual support and affection.
A proud Marine, Meleton served his country with honor and dedication. His time in the military instilled in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried into his civilian life. He was a man who valued hard work and commitment, qualities that were evident to all who knew him.
Beyond his work and service, Meleton was a man of many passions. His love for hunting was matched only by his enthusiasm for dancing. He was often the life of the party, enjoying good times with his brothers and friends. A loyal Dallas Cowboys fan, Meleton never missed a game, demonstrating his unwavering support for his favorite team. He also enjoyed living life at the Dead-End Ranch where him and his wife created beautiful memories.
Music was the soundtrack of Meleton's life; it was a source of joy and comfort, accompanying him through all of life's moments. Family barbecues were a regular affair, where he would take the lead at the grill, serving up not just delicious food, but also laughter and stories. These gatherings were a testament to his belief in the importance of family and the simple pleasures of life.
Meleton's absence will be profoundly felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His infectious spirit, hearty laugh, and generous heart have left an indelible mark on his community and family. As we bid farewell to Meleton Moreno Perez, we do so with gratitude for the time we shared with him and the memories that will continue to inspire us.
