Melissa Garza

Melissa Garza passed away on December 14, 2021, at the age of 33.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Jeremy Lee Garza, and grandmother, Alejandra Rodriguez.

Melissa was a beautiful person inside and out. She truly had the biggest heart one has ever encountered in a person. Her heart was rare; it was without a doubt one of a kind. She was the most loving, selfless, and compassionate person. She always prioritized other people’s feelings, wants, and needs before her own. She would do anything in her power to help anyone who needed it and never left anyone behind.

She loved listening to music of all genres. She loved popcorn and watching movies. Melissa loved makeup and dressing up even if it was just to hang around the house; she enjoyed painting and drawing to express her beautiful mind. She loved sunsets and sunrises but loved the moon even more. She loved hiking and immersing herself into nature. Melissa just simply loved adventure and experiencing something new. She loved fishing with her life-time partner and bonfires at the beach. She loved Italian food and champagne. She loved doing anything and everything with her family; but what she loved more than all of that was just to make people happy.

Melissa leaves behind her family to cherish her memories, her life partner, Jeffrey Sturgeon; her father, Gabriel Garza (Shelley); her mother, Lydia Garza(Karen); sister, Sarah Garza; sisters-in-law; Rosa Oliva, Julie Pearl, and Julia Sturgeon; niece, Sonora Abigail Garza; nephew, Gilbert Austin Garza; mother-in-law, Jeniffer Sturgeon; grandmother-in-law, Susanna Pyrek; her three cats, Shrimp AKA “Shrimp Daddy”, Moon AKA “Moony”, and Chester AKA Rooster; her one dog, Calio AKA Uncle Alli; and extended family members.

The family will receive condolences on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Trevino Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St. @ Port; with a Prayer Service to be held at 7:00 PM that evening. A Chapel Service will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at 12:00 PM at Trevino Funeral Home. A funeral cortege will depart the funeral home at 1:30 PM for Rite of Committal and Interment at Duncan Cemetery.
