IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael L.
Poire'
November 8, 1959 – December 26, 2025
Michael L. Poire, 66, died unexpectedly at his home in Corpus Christi, Texas on December 26, 2025. He was the beloved youngest child of Leo R. Poire and Therese O’Mara Poire of Laconia, NH growing up in this city with his five older siblings.
Mike was known for his sharp wit and humor (especially puns) as well as his gentle, kind ways and was gifted with keen intelligence. He was a puzzle aficionado, a devoted Star Trek fan and a reader of science fiction and fact. His local friends fondly remember attending the science fiction convention in Boston with him, that he was a self-proclaimed pinball wizard and an ardent collector of comic books.
Mike was a graduate of St. John School Class of 1973 and Laconia High School Class of 1977 where he was a member of the National Honor Society and Drama Club with a memorable role in the musical “Annie Get Your Gun”. He worked in retail at the Sundial Shoppe, Ames and Zayre’s while also pursuing an associates degree in Applied Science in Fire Protection from the NH Vocational Technical College (now LRCC) graduating in 1980.
In the late 1980s, Mike followed his heart and his dreams to the West Coast, first settling in San Diego then in Corpus Christi, TX where he resided for the last 35 years of his life. While in Corpus Christi, he was employed in retail at Mavericks, Seven Eleven and Stripes where he was honored with a certificate commending him for his over 20 years of devoted service.
His friends in Corpus Christi cite his strong work ethic, his empathy and willingness to help others (especially new employees) and his wonderful sense of humor. He will be missed by all who knew him there as well.
Mike leaves behind to mourn his loss his sisters Marie Leahy of Laconia, NH, Cynthia and her husband Philip J Mathews, Sr of Campton, NH, brothers Patrick Poire of Sandwich, Ma and Joseph Poire and his wife Cindy of Santa Barbara, Ca as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, grandparents, his sister Jane E. Babin, his sister-in-law Linda Poire and brother-in-law Richard Leahy.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in the spring with burial in the family lot at St. Lambert’s Cemetery in Laconia.
His family asks that donations in his memory be made to the Gulf Coast Humane Society, 3118 Cabaniss Rd, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415 to honor his deep devotion to animals (especially cats).
