Michael Rivera, Sr.

Michael Rivera Sr., 57, was born on October 5, 1959 to Wilfredo and Francisca Rivera in Mathis, Texas. He was called home to be with our Lord on October 7, 2016 surrounded by his Loving family.

He is preceded in death by his father and his angelic grandson, Michael Perez Rivera. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Lillie Ybanez Rivera; daughter, Leah Renee Rivera; son Rey Rivera all of Orange Grove; and son Michael Rivera Jr. (Jenika Perez) of Calallen. He is also survived by the love of his life, his grandson, Marcello Almendarez, and his mother Francisca Rivera both of Orange Grove; sisters, Yolanda (Ernest) Villarreal of Orange Grove, Noemi (Jaime) Lopez of Pearsall, and Norma (Jeff) Koricanek of Gonzales; brothers, Gilbert (Irma) Rivera of Katy, Roger (Annette) Rivera of Orange Grove, and Willie Rivera of Corpus Christi.

Michael was an avid Dallas Cowboy, San Antonio Spurs, Houston Astros, and Texas A&M fan. He will be deeply missed by everyone and by his second family as well (his wife's brothers, sisters, and in-laws). He also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins. Michael was a hardworking man who worked the oilfield since the age of 18. He was a good provider, a humble person, and could never say "no" to anyone. He leaves behind many wonderful memories for his family and friends to cherish.
