Miguel Angel Treviño

Miguel A. Trevino, known fondly as Mike to his friends and family, passed away on March 13, 2025, in Corpus Christi, Texas, after a battle with health issues. Born on July 9, 1950, in Valle Hermoso, Mexico, Mike's journey was one of courage, love, and an unyielding zest for life.

Mike's journey began as the cherished son of Antonia Hinojosa, who predeceased him.  As a young man, he pursued his education with a determination that would become a hallmark of his character, earning a Bachelor of Science from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. His passion for knowledge led him to a fulfilling career as a teacher, where for 27 years, he dedicated himself to enlightening young minds in both English and Math. His love for teaching was not merely a job but a calling that he embraced wholeheartedly.

Mike's life was rich with interests and talents. He was a man of many melodies, playing drums, organ, electric and regular guitar, and even the accordion. His musical abilities were a testament to his spirited nature, and he found joy in sharing this passion with those around him. Whether it was the rhythm of a drumbeat or the melody of an organ, Mike's music reflected his soul.

A true fan of the gridiron, Mike relished the excitement of football. He was also an avid follower of current events, always keen to discuss the latest news with friends and family. His guiding mantra, "One Day At A Time" or "Un Dia A La Vez," embodied his approach to life's challenges and his commitment to living in the moment.

Mike's legacy is carried on by his wife, Minerva Reyes, and their children. His daughter, Michelle Reyes-Vargas, and son-in-law, Daniel Vargas Jr., his son, Rodolfo Trevino, and partner, Cristina Mezomo, and his daughter, Venisa Reyes, alongside her partner, Thania Reyes, all carry forward his legacy of kindness and strength. Although his son, Miguel Angel Trevino Jr., predeceased him, his memory is cherished by his partner, Diana Gamboa.

Mike's sisters, Rosa and husband Enrique Contreras, Sylvia and husband Ruben Moreno, Dora and husband Pancho Arroyo, and Letty Munoz, as well as his brother, Victor Manuel Cantu, and sister-in-law, Rosa Mendoza, widow of his late brother, Leocaldo Mendoza, will remember their brother with deep affection.

Mike's joy in life was magnified by his role as a grandfather. His granddaughter, Leslie Michele Reyes, and grandson, Rodolfo Joel Trevino Jr., brought immense happiness to his days. He also cherished his time with his step-grandchildren, Andrew Daniel Vargas, Bianka Marie Vargas, Devin Blake Vargas, Dylan Gavin Vargas, Johnny Mezomo, Mannie Reyes, Jessie Reyes, and Jude Reyes. His great-granddaughter, Natalia Trevino, and step great- granddaughter, Aaliyah Vargas, and step great-grandsons, Avian Vargas and Ayson Vargas, brightened his world with their innocence and laughter.

Described by those who knew him as loving, courageous, and full of spirit, Mike's presence was a beacon of warmth and strength. His ability to face life's challenges with a smile and a positive outlook has left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

As the final curtain falls on his remarkable journey, we bid farewell to Miguel A. Trevino, a man who lived each day with purpose and joy, leaving behind a legacy of love, courage, and an enduring spirit that will forever be remembered and cherished. Mike's legacy will live on, one day at a time.
