Neftali S. Aparicio

Neftali "Tali" Aparicio, age 91 of Corpus Christi, TX, peacefully stepped into the Lord’s embrace on Friday, January 17, 2025, while in his sleep.  He was born on November 8, 1933, in Nueces County, as one of many cherished children to the late Alejandro and Baptistina Aparicio. Tali attended Roy Miller High School in the 1950’s before accepting the call to active duty during the Korean War and served aboard the USS COWELL (DD-547), alongside one of his brothers, at the tender age of 17.  He proudly served our nation with honor and distinction as a proud enlisted serviceman in both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force where he was awarded several medals as an “Electrical Talker.”  His devotion to duty and country brought him face to face with the worst side of humanity, during the Korean War; but gave him opportunity to protect the freedoms we all cherish as Americans. After his enlistment, with hands skilled and sure, he brought life to machines as a vehicle mechanic. He cherished his Chevrolet El Caminos and dedicated his craft to help anyone in need of vehicle repairs. His dedication was a testament to his character: a man who believed in the value of hard work and the importance of contributing to the greater good. Tali was a man of many passions, of which cooking was but one. His pots of pinto beans and menudo were not just meals; they were expressions of love, crafted with the same care and attention that he applied to every aspect of his life. Refried beans on flour tortillas were his delight!  His studious nature was a beacon of inspiration to us all, as he was ever the lifelong learner. Tali's love for reading was only matched by his passion for computer technology—a field he taught himself with patience and determination.  Like most of us, he found meaning and solace in music.  His favorites were from the 1950’s, 60’s, and 70’s along with gospel.  His favorite song was “Amazing Grace”. The words that best encapsulate Tali are intelligence, love, courage, and gentleness. His intelligence shone brightly in every conversation; every piece of advice he bestowed upon us. His love was a constant, enveloping warmth that he extended to his family, friends, and even strangers who had the good fortune to cross his path. His courage was the quiet strength that underpinned his every action, every decision, every moment of adversity he faced with unwavering resolve.  His gentle soul touched many who took care of him in his final years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alejandro and Baptistina Aparicio, and devoted siblings and in-laws, Ricardo (Josefina) Aparicio and Maria Esther (Zenon) Ramirez Galvan; and leaves behind a legacy through his beloved brother Alejandro Jr. (Cecilia) Aparicio of Corpus Christi, TX, his sister Gloria (Robert) Morgan of Centennial, CO, his sister Nancy D. (James "Jim") Blocker of Rowland Hts, CA, his brother Abel Aparicio of Corpus Christi, TX, and his brother Samuel Aparicio of San Antonio, TX, all of whom will continue to carry his spirit in their hearts. His numerous nieces and nephews, who loved their Uncle Tali dearly, will forever cherish the wisdom, joy, and memories he imparted upon their lives. May Tali rest in eternal peace, and may his soul, through the mercy of God, continue to shine as a beacon of the love and light he so generously shared with us all. Fair winds and following seas - Uncle, Brother, Friend.
