Norma “Norma Jean” Reyes Barrera was called to the Lord on August 18, 2021 at the age of 54.
She was born in Corpus Christi, TX and attended King High School where she met her husband, Julian. Norma was first chair flute in the Mustang Band during her time there. She attended Del Mar College where she studied Communications and Accounting. She worked at KOUL and K99 radio stations in the early 90’s where she was a very popular radio DJ. She was fortunate to meet country stars such as George Strait, Clint Black, Tim McGraw, Shania Twain, Tracey Bird, Rick Trevino, and Lee Ann Womack and was serenaded by Steve Wariner. Norma was a devoted mother and wife. She loved to sing and dance, take road trips, and spend time with family and her grandchildren. She was the best cook; especially during the holidays. She was a loving and caring mother who always supported her children in every event they participated in. Norma loved meeting people and enjoyed life altogether. She always had a smile on her face and was the one making people laugh. Her faith in God was always strong. Norma will always be loved and missed by her family and those who knew her. May she rest in peace and may God bless her always.
She is preceded in death by her father, Jose Angel Reyes; mother, Berta Mireles Reyes; and brother, Joe Reyes.
Left behind to cherish Norma's memory are her husband, Julian Barrera III; son, Julian Barrera IV; daughter, Jennifer Barrera; son, Nathaniel Barrera; daughter, Natalie Barrera; daughter-in-law, Crystal Barrera; grandchildren, Julian Barrera V and Isabella Barrera; sisters, Mary Alice Gonzalez and Linda Cuellar; and brothers, Danny, Ruben, and Richard Reyes.
