Norma Castellano Salinas, born on May 4, 1971, in La Mesa, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025, in Corpus Christi, Texas, surrounded by her loving family. Norma leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Agapito and Teodora Castellano, and her sister, Irma Carrillo.
Norma is survived by her husband, Richard Ortiz Salinas Sr. She was an amazing and loving mother and devoted to her children, Richard C. Salinas Jr., Abbey Loriane Salinas, and Andrew Ryan Salinas. Norma's grandchildren—Jayla Salinas, Jacob Salinas, Logan Martinez, Mason Salinas, Damion Salinas, Kinsley Salias, and Jaxon Salinas—were the loves of her life. There was nothing she wouldn't do for them and her dedication to family was unwavering. She is lovingly remembered by her siblings, Susie Gonzalez, Nora (Hector) Castellano, Agapito (Belinda) Castellano, Raymond Castellano, Christina (Felix) Gonzalez, and Ruben (Hector) Castellano, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. Her memory will forever live in the hearts of her family and friends as a beacon of joy, resilience, and unconditional love.
A woman of strong values, she instilled in her children the importance of respect, honesty, hard work, and family unity. Her nurturing spirit and the lessons she imparted will be carried on through generations. Norma had a wonderful sense of humor and was known for never meeting a stranger. Her warmth and friendliness drew many to her, establishing lasting friendships wherever she went.
Norma's interests were varied and brought her much joy. She loved to bake, delighting family and friends with her delicious brownies, cookies, banana bread, and candy apples. Gambling was another passion of hers; she enjoyed playing maquinitas, bingo, and of course, chalupa. In her leisure time, she could often be found working on crossword puzzles or coloring on her phone app.
Norma's educational journey took her through the Orange Grove Independent School District up until the 9th grade, setting a foundation for her strong principles and work ethic. Her proudest accomplishments were in her role as a mother and grandmother. Those who knew Norma can attest to her incredible capacity for love.
Norma’s family will receive condolence on Monday, August 25, 2025, at Trevino Funeral Home Alice, 120 E. Front St., from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM that evening. A funeral cortege will depart the funeral home on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at 9:30 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Roberson Collin Cemetery.
Honoring Norma as pallbearers will be Rudy Gonzalez, Robert Salinas, Raymond Castellano, Jacob Augustus, Christian Augustus, and Arturo Gonzalez. Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Salinas.
