Olga Lydia Padilla passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loving family on April 25, 2026, in Portland, Texas. Born on November 9, 1964, in Alice, Texas, Olga’s life was marked by her love of family and wonderful sense of humor that touched all who were fortunate to have known her.
Olga dedicated 22 years of her career to Holiday Inn Express, where she was entrusted with the responsibility of managing all laundry operations. Her commitment, punctuality, and work ethic were evident in everything she did, reflecting her deep sense of responsibility and care. Education held a special place in her heart; she highly valued learning and proudly earned her GED diploma, a testament to her determination and personal growth.
Olga, better know as Lilly, Mom, and Grandma, was simply a sincere and humble soul. She had a forgiving and loving heart and was always attentive to those in need. She generously gave of her time, helping in any way she could by giving advice, giving guidance, providing a meal, giving a hug, or just quietly listening. She was someone who never met a stranger, always embracing others with genuine friendliness. Her wonderful sense of humor and distinctive, contagious laughter brought joy to everyone and had them laughing within moments, creating lasting memories that will be treasured forever by family and friends.
Olga found comfort and pleasure in sitting on the porch and smoking a cigarette while visiting with her sisters and catching up with what everyone was doing in their lives. She also enjoyed spending time at casinos in Eagle Pass, in Oklahoma, or in the local game rooms, joyfully playing the maquinitas (slot machines). Another wonderful pastime she enjoyed was playing Chalupa or Bingo with family and friends.
Above all, Olga’s proudest accomplishments were her roles as a mother, grandmother, and sister. She enjoyed cooking her loved one’s favorite meals; especially her homemade tortillas and mouth-watering fried chicken and was always ready with a delicious homemade cake to celebrate any occasion. Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday, as she and her sisters would prepare the Thanksgiving meal along with desserts. It was a cherished time with family spent laughing, reminiscing, watching the games, and hoping for the perfect score to match her numbers!
Olga will forever be lovingly remembered by her children, who were her world and her life, Eric (Roxanne) Garcia, Marivel (Ryan) Villagran, and her stepson, Frank (Destiny) Garcia, whom she embraced as her own son. Her fourteen (14) grandchildren were the joy and light of her life; her siblings, Rene (Melinda) Padilla, Francisco Padilla Jr., Linda (Frank) Carabajal, Carmen (Joe) Carabajal, San Juanita (Bobby) Carabajal, and Jesse (Linlee) Carabajal; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends, will forever remember Olga for her joyful spirit of family love and her wonderful sense of humor.
Olga was preceded in death by her loving husband of 16 years, Francisco Garcia; her parents, Francisco Sr. and Guadalupe Padilla; and her in-laws, Jesus and Maria Garcia.
Olga’s family will receive condolences on Friday, May 8, 2026 at Trevino Funeral Home Alice, 120 E. Front St., from 9:00 AM until 12:30 PM. Recitation of the Holy Rosary and Liturgy of the Word will begin at 12:30 PM.
