Olivia (Flores) Benavides

Our beloved mother, Olivia Benavides, died peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, May 26, 2021. She was born in Alice, Texas to her parents, Antonio and Refugia Flores.

Our precious Mother was the heart and soul of our family who showed us how to love unconditionally and to be strong-willed. She enjoyed reading the Word of God, listening to music, dancing, and was always ready to attend any activities; whether it be school activities, football games, shopping, going to the Casinos, or just going to visit family and friends. Olivia was also a great cook. Her favorite pastime was family gatherings and holiday celebrations.  She had a faith that no matter the situation, she would put it in the Lord’s hands - trusting in God and believing her prayers would be answered.

Olivia was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be truly missed.

Olivia is preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Refugia Flores; her sisters, Esther Gonzalez, Lupita Cantu, and Elfida Garza; son-in-law, Rodolfo Ramon Sr.; nephew, Javier Cantu, brothers-in-law, Timoteo Gonzalez, Cidonio Cantu Sr., and Gilberto Rodriguez Sr.; and sisters-in-law, Margarita Faragosa and Martha Perez.

She is survived by daughter, Norma (Juan Orta) Ramon; sons, Henry (Georgia) Uribe Sr. and Rene (Laura) Benavides Jr.; grandchildren, Henry (Crissy) Uribe Jr., Margo (Enrique) Garcia, Marisela Gaitan, Marco (Hope) Uribe, Georgia (Louie) Saenz, Michael Rivera, Rodolfo (Cristina Tovar) Ramon, Michael Lee (Meredith) Vela, and Rene Benavides III; sister, Eva Rodriguez; dear friend, Raymond Garcia; 21 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

The family will receive condolences on Saturday, May 29, 2021, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Treviño Funeral Home, 120 E. Front St, Alice, Texas; with a Funeral Service at Stonegate Baptist Church at 1:00 PM; followed by Rite of Committal and Interment at Roselawn Cemetery.

Honoring Olivia as pallbearers will be Henry Uribe Jr., Marco Uribe, Michael Rivera, Rodolfo Ramon, Michael Vela, and Rene Benavides III.  Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Cidonio Cantu Jr. and Gilbert Rodriguez Jr.

The family would like to thank Pacifica Assisted Living Staff and Four Seasons Hospice of San Antonio, Texas.

Face masks must be worn, and social distancing must be practiced while attending funeral services due to the current pandemic.
