Otilia (Ortiz) Gutierrez

Otilia Ortiz Gutierrez passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Thursday, February 3, 2022, at the age of 82.  She was a wonderful loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Otilia was dedicated to her family and generous with guidance and advise for her children; praying for their safety and entrusting them in faith for God’s protection. Every Friday she would bless her home going from room to room praying for the Spirit of God to dwell in her house. She loved to listen to music at full volume while cleaning house, ironing, cooking a meal, or just making her delicious French Fries.

Otilia loved to cook and bake. She always had a pile of tortillas ready afterschool for her children and all the neighborhood kids would come over to enjoy frijoles and tortillas as a snack. She made the best holiday meals including tamales, menudo, and of course, lots of tortillas with butter.

Otilia is preceded in death by the love of her life and husband, Ramiro Gutierrez; her parents, Octavio and Margarita Ortiz; sons, Jose Antonio Gutierrez, Juan Daniel Gutierrez, and Ramiro Gutierrez Jr; daughters; Diana Gutierrez and Lydia G. Flores; grandson, Ruben “Hubbie” Gutierrez; brothers, Juan Jose Ortiz and Octavio Ortiz Jr; and sisters, Maria Salinas, Raquel Garza, and Paula Ortiz.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Lupe “Pita” Gutierrez and Diana G. (Joey Montez) Marquez; sister Leonicia “Licha” Ortiz and Juanita Ramos; brothers, Luis Ortiz, Oscar Ortiz, Canuto Ortiz, Librado Ortiz, and Marcelo Ortiz; sister-in-law, Mary T. Gutierrez; 11 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
