Danny's early education in the San Diego School District laid the foundation for a life of varied and industrious work. By 14, he was a jockey; later becoming a skilled horse trainer and fence builder. His work ethic was unparalleled, and he was known for his ability to tackle any challenge with determination and grace.
Danny's interests were as rich and vibrant as his personality. He found joy on the dance floor of La Villita, his favorite dancing hall, and his love for Tejano music was infectious. Barbecues with family and friends, trips to Eagle Pass, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Vegas for a gamble, and playing the lotto and Maquinitas were among his favorite pastimes. Christmas held a special place in his heart, a time for making chicharrones, tamales, or pan de polvo; and more importantly, family unity, celebrating with laughter, joking and reminiscing, and sharing a meal.
A man of deep faith, Danny often traveled to the Shrine of Our Lady of San Juan offering gratitude and thanksgiving for answered prayers. The words that best describe this true Cowboy are loving, generous, and faith-filled. Danny's unwavering commitment to honesty, hard work, respect, responsibility, punctuality, and word of honor was a lesson he instilled in all his children.
Danny Garcia Sr. was a man who would give the shirt off his back if it meant helping someone in need. His presence was a source of comfort and guidance, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. As we bid farewell to this extraordinary man, we take solace in the countless memories and the enduring impact he has left on our lives.
