Rafaela F. Hernandez

Rafaela F. Hernandez, age 99, passed away November 23, 2014. Rafaela was born on October 24, 1915 to her parents, Antonio and Eulogia Flores, in Victoria, TX. She was a devoted Catholic and she was a very active member of the Guadalupañas at Our Lady of Guadalupe until her later years. She enjoyed gardening and cooking, but most of all the gathering of family at every function. She is preceded in death by sons, Robert and Ruben Hernandez; grandsons, Rey Hernandez, Jr. and David Ramos; her only brother, Manuel F. Flores, and sons-in-law, Fred Wilburn, Sr., Arnold Canales, Sr., and Carlos Ramos, Sr. She is survived by her loving family, daughters: Lucia Wilburn, Leonila (Dan) Flowers, Aurora Canales, Ninfa (Celso) Lopez, Edelmira Ramos, Corina (Joe) Martinez, and daughter-in-law, Margot Hernandez; son, Rey (Margaret) Hernandez, Sr.; 32 grandchildren; 65 great grandchildren; and numerous great, great grandchildren. The family will be receiving friends Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara @ Port, from 3 to 9 pm; with a rosary to be recited at 7 pm that evening. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church at 10 am. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will include her grandsons: Kenneth Treviño, Arnold Canales, Jr., Paul Smith, Carlos Ramos, Jr., Roland Hernandez, Joey Martinez, Orlando Hernandez, and Michael Flowers. The family would like to give a very special "thank you" to John Baird, RN and Karina Delgado with New Century Hospice who gave our mother tender loving care.
