Ramona Elizondo Duenes

August 20, 1950 – September 19, 2026

Ramona Elizondo Duenes, 76, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 19, 2026, surrounded by family and friends.

Ramona was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 32 years, Jose Vela Baltazar Duenes Jr.; her parents, Andrew and Maria Elisa Elizondo; and her siblings, Mary Helen De la Garza and Israel Elizondo.

She is survived by her beloved children, Luis Ruiz III, Albert Ruiz, Jo Anne Elizondo (Robert Pineda), Jose Jesus “Jay” Duenes, and Jose Duenes III, “Baby Joedy,” and his wife, Patricia A. Livas. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Araceli “Shelly”, Alicia, Neveah, Dalila, John, Joe Angel, Madeline, Aliana, Santiago, and Zayleigh. Ramona is also survived by her sisters, Diana Molina, Lupita Ochoa, and Alma Garcia, and her brothers, Andrew Elizondo III, Robert Elizondo, and Henry Elizondo.

Affectionately known as “Mona” by those who knew and loved her, she had a special love for arts and crafts and enjoyed creating beautiful flower arrangements for all occasions and holidays. She also took great pride in caring for her rose bushes and plants.

Mona will be lovingly remembered for the warmth, kindness, and love she shared with her family and friends. Though her presence will be deeply missed, her love and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the everlasting love she gave so freely to others.

Mona’s family will receive condolences on Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. A Prayer Service and Eulogy will begin at 11:00 AM. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery where Mona will be laid to rest.
