Raquel G Figueroa

Raquel Alicia Garcia Figueroa went to be with our Lord on December 24, 2022, after a short battle with cancer. Raquel was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who had a sharp-witted remark or a fitting idiom for every occasion. She dedicated her life to her family, steadfastly supporting her entrepreneur husband and successfully guiding all her kids into adulthood. She later spent her time managing the finances for the family’s business.

Raquel was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Andres D. Figueroa, her mother Amelia Garcia, father Luis D. Garcia, brother L.D. Garcia and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives whom she loved dearly. She is survived by her brother Oscar Gonzales, her four children: Sylvia Pack (Aubrey Gene), Lydia Gonzalez (Ernest), Andy Figueroa (Ninfa) and Laura Ware (Brian, deceased) and two grandchildren: Amy Gonzalez and Andrea Gonzalez Robb (Philip), and nieces, nephews, cousins and other close family members.

Raquel was born on March 8, 1938, and raised in San Diego, Texas, where she was a proud graduate of San Diego High School. She often showed her kids her yearbooks and spoke fondly of her involvement in numerous clubs and school activities. She moved to Corpus Christi after graduation to attend business college, where she met the man she would later marry. Together she and Andres built a life in Corpus Christi raising four children and many, many cats and dogs.

The family would like to thank our aunts Adelita Munoz, Amelia Reynolds and Alicia Kirchoff for your incredible love and support of our mother over the years. She valued your friendship more than you could ever know. And we would like to thank Golden Palms Rehab Center, Valley View Senior Living and Amedisys Hospice Service in Harlingen, Texas, for their kindness and fantastic care of our mother in her last weeks.

The family will receive condolences on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, at Trevino Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara @ Port Ave; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
