IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Raquel I.
Flores
February 13, 1961 – December 10, 2025
Raquel I. Flores passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loving family on December 10, 2025, in Corpus Christi, Texas, at the age of 64. Born on February 13, 1961, in San Antonio, Raquel was known for her kindness, generosity, compassion, and loving nature.
Raquel devoted her professional life to serving as a dietician for Retama Nursing Home, where she positively impacted the lives of many individuals with her caring demeanor and expert recommendations. Her commitment to wellness was matched only by her dedication to her family and friends, who were a constant source of joy for her.
Raquel cherished the simple pleasures in life, whether it was indulging in her passion for shopping or enjoying time spent playing "Las Maquinitas" and visiting casinos in Eagle Pass, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Las Vegas, and Prime Time in Corpus Christi.
Christmas was Raquel's favorite holiday, as it held a special place in her heart, not for the exchange of gifts but also for the beautiful celebration of the birth of Our Lord and Savior, the Infant Jesus Christ. She reveled in family gatherings, which were times filled with laughter, joking, and the sharing of cherished memories.
A talented cook, Raquel delighted her family with her culinary skills and was known to make the world’s best Mickey Mouse Pancakes. Her favorite meals were dishes such as tilapia, caldo de res, and tamales.
She was a proud member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she lived out her faith through her actions and deeds, always attentive to the needs of others.
Raquel is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Robert Flores; her cherished niece, Rebeka (Martin) Martinez, whom she loved like a daughter; her Godchild, Alexis (Adrian) Perez; her brother, Rene Oscar (Marissa) Vela; her sisters, Mimi Vela Serna and Norma Rigdon; her sister-in-law, Debra Cantu; her brothers-in-law, Michael (Estefanie) Flores and Richard (Gloria) Flores; her furry baby pet Chase; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends who will carry on her legacy of love and compassion.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruben Raul and Graciela Vela; Julian Reyna, a child she cared for and loved as her own; her brother, Ruben Vela Jr.; her sister, Rosana (Eddie) Flores; her brother-in-law, Marcus Flores; and her in-laws, Erasmo and Hilda Flores. She is also reunited with her furry pet, Chocolate.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM, at Trevino Funeral Home Alice, 120 E Front St., with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 9:00 AM.
