Ray "Baby Ray" Olivares Jr., age 69, passed away on January 16, 2015. He was born on May 9, 1945 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Reynaldo and Elida Olivarez. He enjoyed sports, coaching, classic movies, and bird watching. Cruising to the water, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ray was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Gracie Olivarez; three grandchildren, Jayson, Johnathon, and Kaylee Olivares. He is survived by his wife, Maria Olivares; children, Debra (Robert) Puente, Ray A. (Teresa) Olivares, Cynthia Olivares (David Valdez); John (Laura) Olivares; grandchildren, Joshua Puente, Christopher Puente, Raeylynn Puente, Cassandra Oliva (Ricky), Ray Albert Olivares, Jr., Isaiah Olivares, Ryan Olivares, Jayden, Olivares, Rebecca Olivares; great-grandchildren, Ricky Encina Jr.; and Nayelia Encina; brothers and sisters, Richard (Maria) Olivarez, Robert (Norma)Olivarez, Ronnie (Yolanda) Olivarez; Rosemarie Olivarez, Roxanne Olivarez; raised with as brothers and sisters, Aciano (Sylvia) Rodriguez, Maria Lena (Henry) Villarreal; brother-in-law, Rogelio Almazan; sister-in-law, Angie Amazan; God-son, Mark Marquez; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 from 3 pm to 9 pm; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7 pm. Rites of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 10 am on Thursday, January 22, 2015; burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
