Reba Castillo-Darden

Brethren, we gather today to celebrate and honor the life of a truly remarkable soul, Sister Reba Castillo-Darden, who was called home to be with the Lord on the first of March in the year of our Lord, two thousand and twenty-five. Born in Laredo, Texas, on January 10th, 1946, Sister Reba lived a life that exemplified the grace of God, departing from this earthly realm in Corpus Christi, Texas, at the age of seventy-nine. Sister Reba was a beacon of light in the community, her faith-filled spirit shining bright for all to see. She walked in the footsteps of Christ, living a life of love and exuberance that touched the hearts of everyone she met. Her presence was a testament to the love of our Savior, and her spirited laughter was a balm to the weary. Sister Reba never failed to call and text those she held dearly by praying for them and sharing the word of God. She found comfort in speaking to her son daily who shared his undevoted love by sending pictures so that she could see his journey in life. Sister Reba enjoyed spending time with her sisters who were her best friends and shared a bond that was truly unbreakable. Her grandson was her pride and joy and his love for her is everlasting.  She will never be forgotten for her words when ending a conversation, “I love you and God loves you.” A true servant of the Lord, Sister Reba found immense joy in her church family. She was a cornerstone of fellowship, offering wisdom, comfort, and a helping hand to anyone in need. Her love extended not only to her fellow man but also to God's creatures, particularly her beloved dog, Roxy, who was a faithful companion and a source of boundless affection. In her journey through life, Sister Reba embodied the words of the Apostle Paul, who said, "And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love." (1 Corinthians 13:13). Indeed, love was the essence of Reba's being – a love that was fervent, unwavering, and pure. As we bid farewell to Sister Reba Castillo-Darden, let us hold fast to the loving memories she bestowed upon us. Her spirited laughter, her loving embrace, and her faith-filled counsel will forever be etched in our hearts. We rejoice, knowing she has been welcomed into the eternal kingdom, where she will surely hear the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant." May we all be inspired by the life of Reba Castillo-Darden, a true servant of God, a cherished friend, and a loving soul whose spirit will forever dwell in the House of the Lord. Amen.

Sister Reba is survived by her family, son, Reynaldo T. Castillo, Jr. (Allison Castillo); grandchildren, Anthony Rey Castillo (Divine Lippolt) and Lorisa Renee Castillo; sisters, Grace Stewart (Robert Stewart), Norma Lopez ( Juan B. Lopez), and Silvia Hinojosa; and numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
