Rebecca (Becky) Portales Caceres

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our mother, Rebecca (Becky) Portales Caceres, born in Gonzales, Texas on January 12, 1937,  who passed away on March 13, 2025, at the age of 88.

Her careers included roles as a dental assistant, a property manager, and her favorite position by far was with a leading research organization. This role allowed her to travel across the country by car, independently exploring 49 of the 50 states, forming lasting friendships. She loved sharing stories about her adventures, the people she met, and the experiences she cherished.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Cornelia Portales, and her siblings, Joe Portales, Andres Portales, Ofelia Portales Turner, Rachel Portales Cantu, Carlos Portales, Josephine Ramirez, Consuelo Flores, and Lupe Valdez.

She is survived by her daughters, Casandra Caceres and Angie Ramirez (Raul), and her sons, Chris Caceres, Arturo Caceres, and Armando Caceres. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Jesse, Jacob, Christina, Gabrielle, Armando Jr., Christian, Jonathan, Monica, Jonah, AJ, Jillian, Alesandra, and Ariana; her great-grandchildren, Tristan and Brooklyn; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Life is too short, break the rules,

forgive quickly, love truly,

laugh uncontrollably,

and never regret anything

that made you smile.

Life may not be the party we hoped for,

but while we're here, we should dance.

Rebecca’s family will receive condolences on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara @ Port Ave. from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM; with the Holy Rosary to begin at 7:00 PM. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 10:00 AM, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 426 St. John St., Gonzales, TX. Rite of Committal and Inurnment will follow at St. James Catholic Cemetery, 1727 St. Andrews St. Gonzales, TX.
