Rene Rolando Villanueva Lozano

Rene Rolando Villanueva Lozano passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021, at the age of 72. He was born March 13, 1948 in Alice, Texas to his parents, Reyes Villanueva and Berta Blanca Lozano.

Rene worked with his father as a carpenter for a short while. He then went into the oil field as a truck driver for over 35 years and worked for several companies, such as Oil Base, Pride, H&P, Tetra, Nabors, IE Miller, and Elite Trucking Services to name a few. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He loved barbequing, going to the beach, dancing, listening to music, and watching his novellas. He always had a story to tell his grandkids; it was never a dull moment around him. He will be greatly missed.

Rene is proceeded in death by his wife, Sylvia Jaramillo Lozano; his father, Reyes B. Villanueva; and his mother, Berta Blanca Lozano Salazar.

Among those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Rhonda Renee Villanueva and Maria Elenor Villanueva; son, Juan Manuel Villanueva; a grandson who he raised like a son, Antonio Salinas Jr.; stepsons, Antonio Salinas, Joel Jaramillo, and Roberto Jaramillo; brothers, Armando Arturo Villanueva and Leonel Lozano; sisters, Amanda Alma Gonzalez, Viola Nelda Garza, Bertha Chavan, Linda Erickson, and Mana Salinas; sixteen (16) grandchildren; two (2) great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive condolences on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Trevino Funeral Home,120 E. Front St.; with a Rosary to be recited at 1:00 pm. A Memorial Mass will then be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic at 2:00 p.m. followed by a funeral cortege to New Collins Cemetery for Rite of Committal and Interment.

Face masks must be worn, and social distancing must be practiced while attending funeral services due to the current pandemic.
