Our beloved brother, Reynaldo (Ray) Canales, Jr., passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 in Corpus Christi, Texas at the age of 69. He was born on January 9, 1952 in Roma, Texas to Reynaldo Canales and Oralia Saenz Canales, who preceded him in death, along with his companion of 15 years, Karmella Barragan.
Ray graduated from Moody High School and attended Del Mar College. Most of his life was devoted to a career as a Safety Tech with the local refineries until his retirement in 2020. He was an avid fisherman whose fishing adventures and experiences were the topic of conversation with his friends, family, and especially his nephews.
We are comforted in knowing that because of Ray’s faith and belief in God, he has been welcomed into Heaven, where he is surrounded by eternal peace, joy, and love. He left us with priceless memories of great times spent with family, which will forever be engraved in our hearts. Ray was always eager to give a helping hand to anyone who needed it. His “common sense” advice and his generosity will be terribly missed by his brother, Alfredo Canales (Lucy) and his two sisters, Velma Cantu (Arnold) and Linda Lee Hernandez (Armando), along with his ten nieces and nephews and eight great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jorge Ramirez and the staff from Del Cielo Hospice for their excellent care during Ray’s final battle with cancer.
Services will be privately held under the direction of Trevino Funeral Home.
