Ricardo C. Gonzalez

Ricardo Gonzalez passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on July 15, 1953, in Alice, Texas, Ricardo was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother who will forever be remembered for his service to our community and the countless lives he touched.

A proud graduate of Alice High School Class of 1972, Ricardo's commitment to his community was evident through his service as an Alice Independent School District Board Member and his 15 years in the Army National Guard. His professional life was equally distinguished, having served the City of Alice as a fireman for 34 years, retiring as a Captain. Ricardo's influence extended beyond his official roles, as he served as a PTA officer in several schools and was an active member of the Alice School Band Booster and a Boy Scout Leader.

Ricardo's interests were a reflection of his character. He was a man of respect, honesty, and hard work, qualities he demonstrated every day. He was a man of faith and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. His culinary skills, especially his carne guisada, were legendary among those who knew him, and his sense of humor brought joy and laughter to any gathering. An avid hunter, Ricardo found peace and solace in the great outdoors.

Courageous, selfless, and loving—these words encapsulate the essence of Ricardo Gonzalez. His life was a testament to the power of giving oneself to family, community, and country. Ricardo's legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him.

Ricardo is preceded in death by his parents, Eugenio and Elida Gonzalez, and his sister, Nora Cubas.

Ricardo is survived by the love of his life and wife of 49 years, Sally Ann Gonzalez. Ricardo's pride and fulfillment were his children, Ricardo (Rebecca) Gonzalez, Marcos Rene Gonzalez, and Selina Yvette Zapien, as well as the joys of his life, his adored grandchildren, Gavin Michael Gonzalez, Sara Isabella Gonzalez, Natalie Grace Gonzalez, and Everly Reign Zapien. His memory will be honored by his siblings, Dora (Ali) Raanaei, Fernando (Amy) Gonzalez, and Carlos Gonzalez, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. He will be remembered as a pillar of strength and kindness.
