Ricardo Rene Ramos passed away on July 28, 2022, at the age of 75, after short illness. He was born on September 14, 1946 in Benavides, Texas. He was a long-time resident of Corpus Christi, Texas.
He graduated from Benavides High School in 1965. He went on to attend Texas A&M Kingsville and graduated with a Bachelor of Psychology and Sociology in 1973 and a master’s degree- M.A. in Psychology and Sociology in 1977.
He married his lifelong partner, Virginia Machuca (originally from Austin, Texas) in March of 1969. They were happily married for 53 years. He served in the United States Air Force from 1966-1970. He was a member of St. Patricks’ Catholic Church and was involved with the boy scouts troop162 for many years. He was employed by the Corpus Christi Independent School district as program coordinator for the youth services program 1975-1983. He then worked from 1984-1988 for the city of Corpus Christi/private industry council.
From 1988 until he retired, he was employed by the Corpus Christi Fire Department as Senior Management Assistant to the Fire Chief.
Traveling was one of his interests as well as hunting, ranching, jogging, tennis, hiking, camping and he loved planning interesting vacations.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Catherine Pauline Ramos-Pinon; his mother, Pauline Ramos; his father, Luciano Ramos Jr; his sister, Cynthia Marie Benavides; and his brother, Luciano Ramos III.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia (Machuca) Ramos; daughter, Roxanne Ramos; his brother, Jose Armando Ramos (Sylvia); and four grandchildren, Miguel Pinon IV, Courtney Lynn Pinon, Angelina Alexa Ramos, and Ginalynn Abigail Tijerina.
He also leaves behind many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and friends.
We want to thank the staff of Angel Bright Hospice, the medical staff at Spohn South Hospital and Dr. Frederick Robb Sherron, Valerie and Angelica for their unwavering empathy, professionalism, and support.
The family will receive condolences on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Trevino Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara @ Port Ave; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 12:30 PM followed by Liturgy of the Word at 1:00 PM. A funeral cortege will depart the funeral home at 1:30 PM to Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery for the Rite of Committal and Interment with Full Military Honors.
Pallbearers will be Ricardo Carrillo, Mario Flores, Jose Manuel Flores, Joe Salinas, Edmundo Hinojosa, and Miguel Pinon IV.
Face masks must be worn and social distancing must be practiced while attending funeral services due to the current pandemic.
