Ricardo Regino, Sr passed peacefully into eternal life on September 5, 2026, while surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Lopenio, Texas and was a lifelong resident of Alice, Texas. Ricardo will be remembered as a pillar of our community and church.

Ricardo attended school until he was drafted by the United States Military Office and then enlisted in the United States Army. He was a proud veteran, who served his country with courage, honor, and pride. He was a member of the Veterans Foreign Wars Association.

Ricardo attended Barber School in San Antonio, where he received his certification. In 1953 he joined his brother Jesus Regino, in the quaint little shop, Regino’s Barber Shop, which had a revolving candy cane trademark pole, white barber jackets, the straight-edge knife, and the old-time leather barber chair, where he worked until he retired in 2023. Ricardo was always respectful, humble, kind, and attentive to his customers.

Ricardo was raised with old fashioned values of discipline, punctuality, hard work ethics, and strong Catholic faith. He was a lifetime and faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He served as a Sacristan, making sure everything was ready on the Altar with the candles lit and the doors open, and then helping as an usher. He was there by 6:00 in the morning ready to assist whatever was needed. Ricardo was also an active member of the Cursillistas. He lived his faith through his actions and deeds.

After Ricardo finished barber school, he proposed to his beautiful girlfriend, and they were married on August 9, 1953; theirs is truly a love story. They enjoyed each other’s company and were always smiling and radiating so much happiness, going to Cursillo Ultreas, vacationing, and spending time doing a little gambling at casinos in Las Vegas, Eagle Pass, Louisiana, or anywhere else they traveled, like New York, Tennessee, etc.

Ricardo is preceded in death by his son, Ricardo “Richard” Regino, Jr; his parents, Eugenio and Manuela Regino; his siblings, Concepcion (Abelardo) Lopez, Emma (Beto) Barrera, Victoria (Antonio) Morales, Jesus (Cricelia) Regino, and Zarazosa (Angie) Regino.

Ricardo is survived by the love of his life and wife of 73 years, Rebecca “Becky” Flores Regino; his niece Elva (Roland) Chase; his nephews, Jose Luis (Edna) Morales, Robby Regino, Jesse (Lucy) Regino, Rene (Erika) Barrera, and Roberto (Dawn) Lopez; and, in the loving role as granddaughters, Cecilia and Lainy Everhard.

Ricardo will be lovingly remembered for his humility, respectfulness, and love of God. He will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known him and loved him.

Ricardo’s family will receive condolences on Monday, September 14, 2026, at Trevino Funeral Home Alice, 120 E. Front St, from 5:00 PM until 8:30 PM, with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A funeral cortege will depart the funeral home on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at 9:30 AM, to St. Joseph Catholic Church, to celebrate Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at New Collins Cemetery, where Ricardo will be laid to rest in the peace of Christ.

Honoring Ricardo as pallbearers are Jesse E. Regino, Jesse R. Regino, Rene Barrera, Joseph David Chase, Roland Chase, and Ruben Garcia.
