Richard Alphonse Chauvette, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, peacefully passed away on June 13, 2026. Born on January 1, 1945, Richard's life was marked by dedication, service, and a deep love for the outdoors.

Richard proudly served his country in both the Navy and Coast Guard, exemplifying courage and commitment. His military service was a foundational chapter in his life, instilling values that guided him throughout his years.

Beyond his service, Richard had a passion for hunting and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, a hobby that kept his mind sharp. Among his greatest treasures was the ranch he held in Texas Hill Country—a long-held dream he cherished deeply. This ranch was more than land; it was a sanctuary where he joyfully embraced the outdoors, sharing countless moments with his family and nature alike.

He is lovingly survived by his wife of 33 years, Marty Weber Chauvette, whose partnership enriched his life in profound ways. His children, Scott Chauvette and his wife April, as well as Chad Chauvette and his wife Jamie, carry forward Richard’s legacy with grace. Granddaughters Kenedy and Kamryn Chauvette were a source of pure delight for him; their presence brought him immense happiness and pride.

Richard’s family circle also included his dear siblings, Robert Chauvette and his wife Pauline, and Linda Merrick and her husband Daniel, along with many nieces and nephews who carry fond memories of their cherished uncle.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Annette and Henry Chauvette, and his brother and sister-in-law, Louise and Lawrence Chauvette, whose memories are treasured deeply.

Richard’s life was a tapestry woven with dedication to family, steadfastness of character, and a genuine love for the simple pleasures found in nature and family bonds. The ranch he leaves to his children stands as a lasting tribute to his dreams and spirit—an emblem of all he held dear.

He will be remembered with warmth and admiration, forever missed but never forgotten by those who were fortunate to know and love him.

Richard’s family will receive condolences on Monday, June 29, 2026, at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St. @ Port, from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM, with a Celebration of Life starting at 9:30 AM. Rite of Committal and Interment at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery will follow at 11:00 AM, where Richard will be laid to rest in the peace of Christ.
