Richard G. Garza, a cherished soul known for his kindness and loving nature, passed away on May 12, 2024, at the age of 77. Born on August 11, 1946, in Corpus Christi, Texas, he was a man whose life was characterized by a quiet strength and a generous heart.

Richard was preceded in death by his grandparents, Felix & Eustolia Garcia, who raised him; his father, Benito Garza; his stepfather, Albert Morrison; his nephew, Roy Benavides Jr.; his sister-in-law, Yvonne Morrison; and his brothers-in-law, Roy Benavides Sr. and Juan Rodriguez Sr.

Richard is survived by his mother, Refugia Morrison; his daughter, Angela (Tyler) Flores; his loving companion, Aurora "my lady" Costilla; his siblings, Delpha Benavidez, Shirley Morrison, Karen (Armando) Gutierrez, Albert Morrison, Sharon Morrison, and Allison (Rebecca) Morrison; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Richard spent his formative years in Corpus Christi, where he graduated from Miller High School. His early education laid a strong foundation for a life characterized by hard work and dedication. He faithfully served as a dedicated security guard at Stanley Security, ensuring the safety and well-being of all within his watch. After his tenure there, he transitioned to MG Building Materials, a company that benefited greatly from his loyalty and industrious spirit. He continued to contribute his steadfast commitment until his well-deserved retirement.

Throughout his life, Richard cultivated a diverse array of interests that brought joy to both him and those around him. He was known for his love of casinos and bingo halls, where his presence was a beacon of enjoyment and camaraderie. Fishing trips were cherished escapades, often leading to stories that were shared and treasured by family and friends. Richard was also an avid dancer, moving with a rhythm and grace that matched his lively spirit.

As we say farewell to Richard G. Garza, we celebrate the life of a man who was the epitome of thoughtfulness and love. His memory will continue to inspire and comfort us, as we cherish the time we were privileged to spend with him. Richard's journey through life was a testament to the beauty of a simple, well-lived life filled with love, laughter, and the joy of good company.

The family of Richard G. Garza extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Corpus Christi Nursing & Rehab for their diligent care and support. Special thanks are directed to Mary Lou, Jessica, Liz, Terry, and Yvette whose attentiveness and compassion made a significant difference in Richard's final days.

Richard's family will receive condolences on Sunday, May 19, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St. @ Port Ave.; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 20, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at Holy Family Church followed by Rite of Committal and Interment at Rose Hill Memorial Park.

Honoring Richard as pallbearers are Gary Benavides, Juan Rodriguez Jr., Robert Peña, Tyler Flores, Armando Gutierrez, and Allison Morrison.
