R.L. Lightfoot, born March 29, 1934, passed away on July 12, 2026, in Corpus Christi, TX. He was 92 years old.
Mr. Lightfoot led a life marked by dedication, service, and devotion to both family and profession. He was the beloved son of Augusta Lum and Edith Palma Lightfoot, who preceded him in death.
A proud veteran, R.L. Lightfoot served his country honorably in the United States Navy. Following his service, he devoted 29 years of his professional life to Central Power & Light, from which he retired after a long and exemplary career. His colleagues and supervisors recognized his integrity and the commitment he brought to his work each day.
Outside of his career, Mr. Lightfoot found great fulfillment in his personal pursuits. He had a deep appreciation for fishing, spending many peaceful hours enjoying the outdoors. A skilled and passionate builder, he enjoyed working with his hands and took pride in constructing things, large and small—a testament to his resourcefulness and creativity.
R.L. Lightfoot was a cherished husband to his late wife, Marcia Lightfoot, and a devoted father to his late sons, James, Paul, and David Lightfoot. He leaves behind his son, Jonathan Lightfoot (Sarah). His legacy also lives on through his grandchildren: Joshua Lightfoot (Jessica), Jace Lightfoot (Janna), Joel Lightfoot, Leslie Dryer Lightfoot, Kristin Lightfoot, David Lightfoot Jr., and Tracee Lightfoot. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law children and grandchildren, who held a special place in his heart and whom he considered his own family: Amy Oliva (Mark), Malaya Janae Oliva, Messiah James Oliva, Ray M. Lopez, Robert Lopez, and Roman Lopez. Their memories of his warmth, stories, and guidance will remain a lasting tribute to his life.
Throughout his many years, Mr. Lightfoot exemplified steadfastness, loyalty, and a spirit dedicated to service and family. He is remembered by all who knew him for his work ethic, his love of nature and building, and his enduring support for his family.
His passing marks the close of a well-lived life, and he will be missed deeply by all who knew and loved him.
An Inurnment with Full Military Honors will take place on Thursday, August 14, 2026, at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, where R.L. will be laid to rest at 10:00 AM.
