Robert Avalos Serrata

Robert Avalos Serrata passed away suddenly on October 3, 2019 at the age of 65.  His earlier years were spent as a loving son, big brother, devoted husband, and dedicated dad.  Within these years he grew proudly as a soldier in the United States Army, a hunter of wild game, a welder of metal giants, and an artist in his own right. His canvases ranged from paper napkins to graffitied walls, from the family truckster and camper, to his then commended designs found on the top military helicopters produced out of the Corpus Christi Army Depot.  He was a lover of music and dance, and the good times that went along with them. Within his extensive collection of vinyl records, to which he was very proud, this verse could be heard..."If I leave here tomorrow, would you still remember me? For I must be traveling on now, 'cause there's too many places I've got to see. But if I stayed here with you, things just wouldn't be the same. 'Cause I'm as free as a bird now, and this bird you cannot change."

He is preceded in death by his Parents, Roberto and Maria Serrata, and his sister, Norma.

Robert is survived by his sister, Nora and her husband Tino, and his sister, Noemi and her husband Ralph. He remains the craziest, but coolest uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. His memory will live on with his only child and daughter, Julie. He also leaves in his short, but cherished memory, his granddaughter, Isabella Mia.

The family will receive condolences from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Friday, October 11, 2019, at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St.; with a rosary and Liturgy of the Word to begin at 7:00 pm.  A cremation will follow.
