Roberto Hernandez, age 68, passed away on February 10, 2013. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a Sergeant Major in the United States Marine Corps for 30 years. He was a Vietnam Veteran and was awarded the Purple Heart. He also worked for The Nueces County Adult Probation office for 20 years. He will be dearly missed. While Robert grew up in Corpus Christi Texas, he resided in National City, California for the greater part of his life. Upon retirement from the United States Marine Corps, he chose to return to his childhood roots in Corpus Christi, Texas. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Margarita R. Hernandez; sons: Robert (Carol) Hernandez Jr., Bruce Hernandez, Orlando (Rose Mary) Hernandez, Javier (Maria Celeste) Hernandez; mother, Rafaela F. Hernandez; sisters: Lucia H. Wilburn, Lena (Dan) Flowers, Aurora Canales, Ninfa (Celso) Lopez, Delma Ramos, Corina (Joe) Martinez; brother, Reynaldo (Margie) Hernandez; grandchildren: Cayla Marie A. Hernandez, Casey A. Hernandez, Julian Alexander A. Hernandez, Rebecca Marie Hernandez, John Robert Hernandez, Olivia Rose Hernandez, Briana Marie Hernandez, Jessica Alexis Hernandez, Thomas Bruce Hernandez, Daniel A. Hernandez; as well as numerous nephews, nieces and all of those who had the pleasure of knowing him. In his final years, he was acquiring accurate knowledge based on the Bible and to get to know the one true God.... Jehovah (Psalm 83:18). His goal was to be baptized in water so that he could be a part of the Jehovah's Witness family and become a Jehovah's Witness. The family will be receiving friends at Trevino Funeral Home 3006 Niagara at Port on Thursday, February 14, 2013 from 3:30 pm to 9:00 pm; with a talk to be held at 6:30 pm. A funeral chapel service will be held at Trevino Funeral Home at 10:00 am on Friday, February 15, 2013. Interment will follow at Coastal Bend Veterans Cemetery.
