Obituary

Roderick James Garza, 54, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2025. Roderick, more commonly known as “Roddy,” was born on August 9, 1971, to Robert and Viola Garza.

Roddy worked as a delivery driver for L&W Supply and proudly served as a baseball umpire for many years. His love for life showed through his enormous sense of humor, and he was the life of the party. He had a remarkable way of making everyone feel welcome and treated people like old friends, even when meeting them for the first time. His passion for baseball led him to umpiring, where he especially loved mentoring youth and always made time to talk with coaches and parents alike.

Roddy was an avid Dallas Cowboys and UT Longhorns fan, but his heart always belonged to the Miller High School football team, as he was a proud Roy Miller Buccaneer alumnus.

Above all, Roddy was a loving husband, devoted father, cherished brother, and loyal friend. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Roddy was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Viola Garza, and his brothers, Robert Garza Jr. and Richard Garza.

He is survived by his loving wife, Grace; his daughters, Emiliana Liane and Abigail Laila; his brother, John (Karen) Garza; and his sister, Sandra Garza. He also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St @ Port Ave; with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. Following the Rosary, Roderick’s wishes were to be cremated.

Roddy lived his life to the fullest, and though his journey on earth has ended, his memory and spirit will live on through his family and friends. His zest for life serves as a reminder to cherish each day, make lasting memories, and always lead with love and laughter.
