Rose Marie Lopez peacefully passed into eternal life on October 8, 2025. She was better known as Rosita and was born in Alice, Texas on July 17, 1941, to her parents, Juan and Encarnacion Lopez. Rosita will be remembered for her kindness, gentleness, and love of family.
Rosita’s journey through life was marked by her passion for education. She earned several educational degrees and was a teacher, a counselor, and a librarian and had a master’s degree as well. She retired from the Alice Independent School District after 35 years of service where she taught at Saenz Elementary School for most of her career. She treated her students as her own children and taught with understanding, kindness, compassion, and love. She loved teaching and her commitment to the growth of young minds was her lifetime goal. Countless students' lives were enriched by her guidance and encouragement and that is Rosita’s legacy to education.
Rosita’s zest for life was contagious. She loved to dance, letting the music carry her away in joyful expression. Her laughter was a melody that harmonized perfectly with her beauty. She loved to read and travel and she had the pleasure of traveling to most of the countries in the stories she had read. She enjoyed walking in the evenings and especially enjoyed walking arm in arm with her father. She was always so attentive to the needs of her parents, family, or anyone in need; ready to give of her time, talents, or treasures.
Rosita always looked immaculate; perfect makeup, dress with matching accessories, hair all in place, and a smile to complete it all. Rosita was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and radiated her faith through her actions and deeds.
Rose Marie “Rosita” Lopez’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with the threads of dedication, joy, and compassion. As we say farewell to this beautiful and remarkable woman, let us cherish the memories that will forever live in the hearts of those she touched, the wisdom she shared, and in the hearts of those who loved her.
Rosita was proceeded in death by her parents, Juan Vela Lopez and Encarnacion Lopez, and her brother, Juan H. (Gloria) Lopez.
Her memories will live on through her niece, Maria L. Miller; her nephew, Robby (Parvaneh) Lopez, who she loved as her own; her great-niece and great-nephews, Elena J. Miller, Darrell J. Miller, and Mason Lopez; dear family friend, Nelda Martinez; extended family members; and dear friends.
Rosita’s family will receive condolences on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Treviño Funeral Home Alice, 120 E. Front Street, from 10:00 AM until 1:30 PM.
