Rosie Lee Smithwick, 89, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, July 16, 2017. She was born February 27, 1928 to Charlie and Era Breeden in Merkel, Texas. She was a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #8932 in Flour Bluff. She did over 50 years of volunteer work for the VFW and the local community. She always opened her heart and home to anyone who needed help. She loved spending time with her family especially her annual camping trips with her grandkids. Rosie was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Era Breeden; her son, Ernest Coonce; her brothers, Jack and Boyd Breeden; her sisters, Peggy Breeden and Billie Ditto; her first husband, Howard Coonce and second husband, Dalton Smithwick. Survivors include her daughter, Debra (Ruben)Vela; grandchildren, Jessie (Dottie) Ray, Michael (Michele) Coonce, Clint (Mandy) Coonce, Ernest Coonce, Jr., Michael Ackerman, Jennifer (Martin) Taylor, and Kayla Kremin. She had 10 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive condolences on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Trevino Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St. at Port from 2pm until the Memorial Service at 3 pm begins.
