Ruben M. Alfaro, a man of spirited character and loving heart, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2024, at the age of 78. He was born to his parents, Aureliano and Rosaura Alfaro, Sr., on October 30, 1945, in Agua Dulce, Texas. Ruben's journey through life was one marked by joy, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife Elena Alfaro; his parents, Aureliano Sr. and Rosaura Alfaro; his brothers, Eustacio (Dolores) Alfaro Sr., Aureliano Alfaro Jr., Roman (Maria) Alfaro Sr., and Arturo Alfaro Sr.; his sisters, Claudina (Juan) Parra, Senaida (Chris) Cavazos, and Aurelia L. (Zaragosa) Chapa; brothers-in-law Felipe Sanchez, Rodolfo Santos, and Ernesto Salinas; and sister-in-law, Esmeralda Alfaro.
The patriarch of a loving family, Ruben is survived by his children, Elizabeth (Tereso) Huerta and Ruben Alfaro Jr., his grandchildren who were the pride, joy, and love of his life, Alma Yesenia Huerta, Monica Elizabeth Huerta, Natalie Alfaro, Elizabeth Alfaro, and Ruben Adam Alfaro III; his treasured siblings, Manuel Alfaro Sr., Adan (Karen) Alfaro, Raquel Salinas, Maria Santos, and Helena A. Sanchez; his sisters-in-law, Dalia Alfaro and Frances Alfaro; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends. Ruben will be dearly missed by all who knew him and loved him.
Ruben attended the Alice Independent School District, and although his formal education concluded after the 10th grade, he never ceased to learn and grow, becoming a jack of all trades in the beef industry. His work ethic and dedication to providing for his loved ones were admirable.
A true Texan at heart, Ruben's passions were deeply rooted in the culture of his home state, as the #1 fan of the Cowboys and Texans. His love for dancing and Tejano music often brought life to family gatherings where he was also known for his exceptional barbeque skills. Ruben's protective nature over his sisters was a testament to his thoughtful and loving demeanor, always ensuring they felt safe and cherished. Ruben was just as caring to all the cows, horses, and other farm animals at the ranch.
As we bid farewell to Ruben M. Alfaro, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of moments that will be treasured forever, in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. Ruben’s family will receive condolences on Saturday, June 22, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, at Trevino Funeral Home.
