Mr. Santiago Nevarez Sauceda, a beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully on September 6, 2023 in Corpus Christi, TX. Born on November 27, 1943, in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico. Mr. Santiago lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to his family.

Mr. Santiago is survived by his loving wife Juana H. Nevarez. Their love story was one of 53 years together. A life filled with mutual respect, admiration, and shared love for their family. He is also survived by his daughters, Evangelina Nevarez (Pedro Tapia), Santa Cecilia Cruz (Donald Cruz), Rocio Guadalupe Nevarez. His sons, Santiago Nevarez (Maria Luisa Santillan- Nevarez), Juan De Dios Nevarez (Cassandra Canales). Mr. Santiago was a proud abuelo to Donald John Cruz, Octavio Jose Cruz, Nicolas Joel Cruz, Isaac Iwabuchi, Santiago Nevarez III Giovanni Nevarez, Yarethzi Marina Nevarez. He was an exceptional brother to Dominga Gonzales, and Policarpo Nevarez. He was the pillar of his family, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him.

Mr. Santiago Nevarez was preceded in death by his parents Jose Nevarez and Virginia Sauceda. In his passing Don Santiago o Don “Chago” leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication. His life was a beautiful example of the power of family, and his memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. Mr. Santiago Nevarez Sauceda “El Borrado” will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live in the hearts of his loved ones.

Santiago’s family will receive condolences on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Trevino Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara @Port Ave, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. On Friday, September 15, 2023, a funeral cortege will depart the funeral home at 9:30 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.

The pallbearers, honoring Santiago’s memory, include Isaac Iwabuchi, Donald J Cruz, Octavio J Cruz, Pedro Tapia, Juan Canizales, Donald Cruz Sr., Giovanni Nevarez Honorary, and Santiago Nevarez Jr Honorary.
