Sylvia E Canales

Sylvia Elizabeth Canales, age 73, of Laredo Texas, passed away November 22, 2021, in her home with her loving husband by her side. Sylvia E. Canales is preceded in death by her parents, Gilberto and Lydia Valenzuela.

Sylvia loved to gamble, eat, and listen to good music. You could always catch her dancing. She also loved a cold drink, baking and sewing. Most of all, she loved her family. Sylvia devoted her life to being the best mother and grandmother she could be. She was a beautiful, sweet, and incredibly selfless woman and we are thankful for all the years we had together. Although our hearts are broken, Sylvia’s light will continue to shine through all those who were blessed to know and be loved by her.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Robert W. Canales of Corpus Christi Texas; her three children, Cindy Canales (Abel Elizondo), Sandy A. Canales, and Robert E. Canales; her four grandchildren, Savanah M. Canales, Andrew Elizondo, Jonathan W. Emmons, and Flora E. Canales; siblings, Gilbert Valenzuela, Rosie Garcia, Mary Esther (Candelario) Vasquez, Ricardo (Cathy) Valenzuela, Arturo Valenzuela, Javier (Lupe) Valenzuela and Criselda Boone. The family will receive condolences on Thursday, December 2, 2021, from 10:00 AM – 1:30 PM at Trevino Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara @ Port Ave; with a Holy Rosary to begin at 12:00 PM followed by Liturgy of the Word at 12:30 PM. A funeral cortege will depart the funeral home at 1:30 PM for Rite of Committal and Christian Burial at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.

Face masks must be worn, and social distancing must be practiced while attending services in the facility.
