Thomas Allen Grant passed away peacefully on August 7, 2026, at the age of 67, surrounded by his loved ones.

Tom was a caring, generous, and kindhearted man who never hesitated to lend a helping hand to those around him. Above all, he was a loving father and devoted husband who cherished his family deeply. He had a servant’s heart and found great joy in giving his time and talents to his church and community. He was always willing to help with church functions and especially enjoyed working behind the scenes with the stage, lighting, and music production.

Tom dedicated his life to serving others and his country through a distinguished career spanning several decades. He proudly served in the United States Air Force, followed by service in the United States Coast Guard. After his military service, Tom continued his commitment to his community by serving for several years as a Constable with Nueces County Precinct 1. He later began a long and dedicated career with CPL/AEP Electric Company, where he proudly served for 25 years before concluding his professional career. Throughout each chapter of his life, Tom demonstrated an unwavering commitment to service, hard work, and the people and communities he cared for.

Outside of his work in service to others, Tom enjoyed the simple things that brought him happiness. He loved to fish, travel, and make memories with his wonderful wife. He had a deep appreciation for music and enjoyed listening to his favorite songs, as well as relaxing at home in his recliner watching television. He was especially fond of John Wayne and could never resist a good Western.

Tom also had a very special companion in his beloved dog, Bailey, who was truly his partner in crime and a constant source of companionship. And, of course, Tom never turned down a good Mexican meal—it was one of his favorite ways to enjoy good food and good company.

Tom’s generous spirit, easygoing nature, love for his family, and willingness to serve others touched the lives of so many. He will be remembered not only for all that he did, but for the love, laughter, and kindness he brought to the people fortunate enough to know him.

Tom was preceded in death by his mother, Maxine Williams; his father, Thomas J. Grant Sr.; and his brothers, Steve Cope and Kenny Cope. He was raised with love and care by Norma and Winford Cope.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Grace Grant; his children, Ashley Alderson (Travis Carlson), Courtney Russell (Nicholas Russell), and Mary Greenwood; and his grandchildren, Brian Chadwick Jr., Joshua Chadwick, Lance Chadwick, Toby Chadwick, Anthony Greenwood, and Cody Greenwood. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Amelia Chadwick.

Tom is also survived by his sister, Mary Branch (Rosalind Philips); and his brother, James Ottinger (Jennifer Ottinger); along with extended family and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Tom leaves behind a legacy of love, service, generosity, and devotion to his family, his country, his church, and his community. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held at Church of Hope, 13024 Leopard St, on Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM, with a Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 9:30 AM. Rite of Committal and Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
