Tomasa Alonzo

Tomasa Alonzo, a cherished pillar of her community and beacon of unwavering love, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2024, in her home in Corpus Christi, TX, surrounded by her adoring family. Born on February 18, 1944, in Edroy, TX, Tomasa's journey through life was marked by her boundless compassion and the joy she brought to everyone she touched. A life partner in the truest sense, Tomasa was a loving wife to her devoted husband of 61 years, Jesse Alonzo. Together, they built a legacy of love and commitment that stood as a testament to their unwavering bond. Tomasa's nurturing spirit extended to her role as a sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, where her guidance and affection shaped the lives of those who had the privilege to call her family. Tomasa's memory will be held dear by her children, David (Josie) Morin, Margie (Ruben) Sanchez, and Jesse Abel (Monica) Alonzo I. Her grandchildren, Richard Frank Morin, Henry John Morin, Erica Marie Morin, Suzanne Lydia Sanchez, John Jacob (JJ) Sanchez, Ashley Nichole Alonzo, Jessica Angelica Alonzo, Mercades Yvette Alonzo, Tomas Cruz Alonzo, Clarissa Pollard, Claudia Todd, and Victoria Cuevas, will carry forward her legacy of love and kindness. The matriarch's lineage continues to blossom with her great-grandchildren, Richard (Ricky) Frank Morin Jr., Lailu Dolores Morin, Jordan David Morin,Kahi Morin, Elijah Jay Morin, Abryel Nikole Lopez, Janelle La'Zay Armadillo, Zariah Faith Morin-Vela, Jazelle Nevaeh Armadillo, Ambryanna Lanelle Armadillo, Zaylyn Rose Armadillo, Serenity Justice Cardona, Persephone Elisa Cardona, Calliope Trinity Cardona, Leia Kassidee Cardona, Lucus Aaron Alaniz, Avery Joseph Alaniz, Cade Clinton Todd, Adrian Alexander Pollard, Elle Lorene Cuevas, Emmy Claire Cuevas, Alyza Morin Rivera, and Bailie Sage Sanchez. Each of them will carry a piece of her spirit and wisdom as they grow and make their own way in the world. Tomasa was preceded in death by her parents, Tomasa Martinez-Morin and Cruz Morin; her siblings, Mona Alvarez, Lydia Castro, Virgina Morin, Nora Morin, Paulino Morin, Leonel Morin, and Alonzo Morin; her son, Richard (Ricky) Frank Morin; and her grandchild, Jesse Abel Alonzo II. While their absence was deeply felt, the reunion of these souls is a comforting thought to those she leaves behind. Throughout her life, Tomasa exemplified the virtues of hard work and service. After her retirement from Quick Wash Laundry Mat, she dedicated herself to her faith and community. Tomasa's devotion was particularly evident in her service to the jail ministry, where she provided guidance and support to those seeking redemption and a new path in life. Her involvement in church activities reflected her belief in the power of faith and the importance of community support. As we bid farewell to Tomasa Alonzo, we celebrate a life lived with purpose, love, and an abundance of grace. Her memory will continue to light the way for those who follow, and her spirit will forever be a guiding force in the lives of her beloved family and friends. Tomasa's journey on earth has ended, but her story—woven into the fabric of countless lives—will endure. May she rest in eternal peace, knowing she was truly loved, and her life was a blessing to all who knew her.
