Trinidad Lucy Garcia, age 78, passed away peacefully into God’s loving hands on September 24, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. Many people didn’t know that Lucy was not her birth name but was given to her by her Sunday school teacher. The teacher told Trinidad that she resembled Saint Lucy and so from that day forward, she was known as Lucy. She was affectionately known as Bubby to her grandkids that loved and adored her. She was also a breast cancer survivor. She will be greatly missed!
She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to all. Lucy had so much love for everyone in her life and was a woman of great faith devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary and daily praying of the rosary. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren and attending their games, recitals, and graduations. Lucy loved watching her reality shows so much that when she talked about them, we thought they were family members.
She was a Roy Miller High School graduate, “Once a Buc always a Buc”. Lucy retired from the Corpus Christi State School after 28 years of dedicated service as a cook. The State School community referred to her as “Mom” because they felt the love she had for the residents.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Guadalupe; cousin, Mary Helen; sister- in- law, Isabel; and son-in-law, Roger.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Joe Cruz Garcia; brother, Vicente (Mary) Rodriguez; her children, Pearl (Rolando) Fernandez, Joe (Melissa) Garcia, Annie (Oscar) Delgado, Yvonne (Jeff) Abrego, Yvette Garcia, Michele Garcia, and Christian Garcia; grandchildren, Romeo Garcia, Gabriella, Heather, Allison, Joshua, Jacob, Miranda, Nathan, Victoria, David, Augustine, Bella, Justin, Stephanie, Matthew, Austin, Ryan, Raymond, Racquel, and Steven; eleven great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive condolences on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A funeral cortege will depart the funeral home on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at 1:00 PM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 1:30 PM at Christ The King Catholic Church. Rite of Interment and Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Face masks must be worn, and social distancing must be practiced while attending funeral services.
