Viola Alaniz, a cherished soul whose life was deeply rooted in Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2026. Born on September 2, 1938, in the same city she called home for her entire life, Viola embodied strength, love, and resilience throughout her 87 years.
Viola’s journey through life was marked by the profound impact she had on her family and community. She was a devoted mother to Gracie Hinojosa (Jose), Martin Alaniz Jr., and Rosendo Alaniz, whose lives she enriched with unwavering support and tenderness. Her legacy continues through her beloved granddaughters, grandsons, and great-grandchildren, and sister, Gloria Ramirez, who carry forward the warmth and kindness she so freely gave.
Her life was also touched by sorrowful farewells. Viola was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Alaniz, with whom she shared many years of partnership and love. She also mourned the loss of her children, Adalida Garcia, Luis Alaniz, and Marcos Alaniz. Family losses extend further to her dear mother, Juanita Luna, her brother, Pine Cardona, as well as her grandchildren, Brenda Rodriguez and Mark Anthony Garcia, and great-grandson, Ryua Barrientes. Their memories live on in the heart of Viola’s enduring story.
Viola’s family will receive condolences on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St., from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a Holy Rosary to begin at 7:00 PM. A Liturgy of the Word will be held the following day, Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 10:00 AM, at Treviño Funeral Home. A funeral cortege will depart from the funeral home at 11:00 AM for Rite of Committal and Interment at 11:30 AM at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
Viola Alaniz’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, sacrifice, and strength. Her presence will be profoundly missed, yet the countless lives she touched will carry her spirit onward forever. May her memory be a blessing and her soul find eternal peace.
