Vito N. Cantu, Jr.

Vito Cantu Jr. passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2020. Vito was born on September 4, 1956 in Corpus Christi, TX to Vito Cantu Sr. and Maria Teressa Cantu. Vito Cantu Jr. was a strong patriarch of his family. The man that many referred to as Victor was a great father, husband, brother, uncle, and popo. He loved and cared so much for his family, especially his grandchildren. Vito was a very humble, loving, hardworking man. He impacted so many lives in many different ways. Vito left a long-lasting impression that will forever keep his spirit alive within each and every one of us.  For the past 22 years, Vito proudly worked for Petroleum Service Corporation handling product transfers of a wide variety of hazardous chemicals, oils, and refined products. In 2003 Vito Cantu Jr. was the recipient of the D.H. Haymon Award. This award is given to its most outstanding employees who demonstrate the qualities of Derryl Haymon that have made the company successful: dedication, hard work, leadership, and a concern for others.  Throughout his years with PSC, Vito had the privilege to have worked with many colleagues and co-workers and was well respected throughout PSC and other companies for his hard work, knowledge, and leadership.

In his spare time, he enjoyed driving his oldie, a 1951 Pontiac Chieftain. This vehicle is a perfect representation of Vito, old school but classy. Vito was old school, from his fedora hat to his Stacy Adams, and everything in-between. He was also a very classy man; he was a gentleman among men.

Mr. Vito Cantu Jr. is preceded in death by his wife, Olga Vera Cantu; parents, Vito Cantu Sr. and Maria Teressa Cantu; three brothers, Antonio Cantu, David Cantu, and Javier Cantu; two sisters, Anna Marie Navarro and Maria de Jesus Torres Navarro.

Among those left to cherish his memory are his children, Jason V. Cantu, Vito Cantu III, Michelle Cantu, Toni Marie Cantu, and Antonio Cantu; adopted daughter, Evalynn Kay Puente;  grandchildren, Jaden, Victoria, Aiden, Jada, Arianny, Blake, Avery, Jace, and Olga; sisters, Maria S. Avila (Vicente), Minerva Trevino, and Sylvia Cantu Cavada (Charlie); and a host of loving nieces and nephews, cousins, and longtime friends.

Although our hearts are heavy, we will forever celebrate Vito's life and find comfort knowing that he is in heaven watching over us.  He is loved and will be missed by many!
