William Morrison Armstrong, Jr.

World War II Veteran, William Morrison Armstrong, 94, of Corpus Christi passed away after a long illness on 28 February 2019 in his home. William was born in Pensacola, Florida on August 1, 1924 to William Morrison and Lillian Bargery Armstrong, following the birth of his sister Cecelia. William served in the U.S Navy for 26 years. He graduated from Miller High School, attended Texas A&I University and Spring Hill College in Alabama. William had hoped to become a Veterinarian; however, was called back into the service by the government. Upon retiring from the military, William thoroughly enjoyed working as an Insurance Agent for John Hancock.

He is survived by his wife, Belva G. Verban of Ingleside; one son, Dr. James Armstrong; three daughters, Denise Hamilton, Rene Seevers (son-in-law Dr. Randy Seevers), and daughter, Marie Armstrong; five grandsons, Dr. Matthew Hamilton, Nathan Hamilton, Thomas Hamilton and wife Sarah, Dr. Jeff Seevers, Remy Armstrong, and William Seevers; and four great-grandchildren, Elijah, Finnegan, Milla, and Magnolia.

The family will receive condolences on Monday, March 4, 2019, starting at 5:00 PM at St. Paul Catholic Church, 2233 Waldron Rd, 78418; with a Holy Rosary to begin at 6:00 PM. A viewing and mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 05, 2019 starting at 9:00 AM with the mass beginning at 10:00 AM at St. Paul Catholic Church. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery with full Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for charitable donations to be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
