AEC William J. Peavey, USN-Retired Chief Peavey, 82, passed away at home after a long illness. Born in Minnesota, Bill joined the U.S. Navy at 19. He absolutely loved serving his country as a Naval Flight Engineer. He has literally “seen the world,” with duty stations onboard two Aircraft carriers in the Mediterranean Sea, Naval Air Stations in Rota, Spain, Honolulu, Hawaii, Patuxent River, Maryland, Jacksonville, FL, Pensacola, FL, Key West, FL, Norfolk, VA. He retired in 1988 after 35 years of Active Duty. But wait…he wasn’t through yet. Later that year, he acquired an elite position with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection aviation branch at NAS Corpus Christi, TX, as a civilian flight engineer, also flying the P-3. Bill totaled almost 50 years of service to his country, mostly in the P-3 Orion. Throughout his illustrious career, he usually had a motorcycle when he was stateside. We rode many thousands of miles on the Honda Goldwing. Fun time, always. He leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Pat, 3 daughters, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to the American Heart Association, or to a favorite charity of your choice.
