Yolanda Alvarez

Yolanda Alvarez, a beacon of love and laughter, passed away on January 1, 2025, at the age of 72, in her hometown of Corpus Christi, Texas. Born on June 3, 1952, in the same vibrant city, Yolanda's life was a testament to the enduring power of care and joy she brought to everyone she touched. Yolanda's journey began as the cherished daughter of Luis Tijerina Alvarez and Ramona Mireles Alvarez, both of whom preceded her in death, along with her beloved son, Jerry Lee Alvarez; her sister, Sylvia Alvarez Salgado; and her brother, Robert Mireles Alvarez Sr. Her legacy continues through her loving family, including her daughters, Annette Rodriguez (Gerald) and Ann Marie Alvarez Mungia (Joe); her adored grandchildren, Gerald Rodriguez (Esperanza), Jacob Rodriguez (Daniella), Justin Rodriguez, Yvette (Ruben) Vela, Juan Francisco Cervantez, Michelle Cervantez (Keith), Richard Garcia, Omar Garcia, Jerry Jr., and Madison Alvarez; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Laila, Victoria, Maximilian, Teagan, Kash, Addyson, Lilly, Jayden, Kai, Ruben, Mariah, Jeremiah, Jezaniah, Juan Francisco V, Keith Jr, K'Leichell, and Francisco. Yolanda's siblings, Luis (Janie) Alvarez, Alfredo Alvarez, Maria Alvarez (Pete), and Yvonne (Roland) Soliz, along with her sister-in-law, Estella Alvarez, will hold her memory dear as they continue to walk the path of life that she once walked alongside them. A dedicated worker in the retail industry for many years, Yolanda's work ethic and commitment to service were evident to all who knew her. Her colleagues and customers alike were often touched by her kindness and her innate ability to make even the most mundane interactions feel special. Yolanda's life was characterized by her humility, care, and love for her family and friends. Her sense of humor was infectious, and she had a unique talent for finding joy in life's simple pleasures. She was an avid pool player, showcasing her skill and competitive spirit in every game. Her love for seafood, coffee, and cigarettes was well-known, as was her fondness for music, dancing, and settling down to watch her favorite novelas in the evening. Those who knew Yolanda will remember her as a loving, kind, and funny individual. Her laughter could light up a room, and her presence was a source of comfort and happiness. She had a passion for life that was evident in everything she did, from her playful jokes to her enthusiastic dance steps. As we bid farewell to Yolanda Alvarez, we celebrate a life lived with an open heart and a generous spirit. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide us, just as her love shaped the world around her. Yolanda's story is not one of sorrow, but of the countless moments of joy and laughter she shared with all of us. Her legacy of love and kindness will forever be etched in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have been a part of her life. We take comfort in knowing that Yolanda's spirit will live on through the stories told by her grandchildren, the wisdom she imparted, and the countless memories that will continue to bring smiles to our faces. Her life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of compassion, humor, and unwavering love—a tapestry that will be cherished for generations to come.
