Zac Pope Russom, Jr., 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 30, 2013 in Corpus Christi, TX. A native Texan born on November 24, 1919 on his grandparent's farm in Whitesboro, TX, the son of Eulialah Price and Zac P. Russom. He attended Austin College prior to joining the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant bomber pilot in World War II. He shared fond memories of learning his expert business skills from his Uncle Charles in Fort Worth, TX. Owner of Alpine Construction Co., Zac was one of Houston's most successful multi-family residential developers. He was past President of the Houston Apartment Association. Zac was a kind and loving man who will always be remembered for his outstanding humor and dynamic personality. He had many friends and numerous hobbies but his greatest love and passion was his family. A devoted father and grandfather he loved his family and provided them with infinite wisdom and took great pride in their successes. His retirement years were spent on Lake Travis in the house he designed and built. He was preceded in death by his wife and "the smartest woman he ever met" TV actress Wilma Marie Rutherford. He is survived by his children Suzanne Lewis and Zac, III "Rusty"; grandchildren, Britney Myers and husband Randy, Colby Lewis and wife Meagan, Zac Lewis and his great-grandchild Cole Lewis. Zac will be greatly missed and will live on with his loved ones and his Heavenly Father. Memorial Service will be held in the Callisburg Methodist Church, Callisburg, TX. at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 5, 2013. A private burial will take place at the State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi.
