Zoila Bentancourt

Zoila Alaniz Bentancourt of San Diego, Texas, passed away peacefully at the Meridian Care of Alice on August 19, 2022, at the age of 95. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her and loved her. Zoila retired from San Diego Independent School District, where she worked for many years. She had so much fun playing Bingo and Chalupa. One of her favorite pastimes was listening to music and dancing; as well as, dressing up in her western wear and Justin boots. Her grandchildren’s best memories are when they would go to Grandma’s every Sunday after mass and she would make them breakfast with homemade tortillas; she was an awesome cook. She also instilled in them Faith and Trust in God through her spirituality, by being so faithful and active in church, and by her devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary as she prayed the Holy Rosary daily. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Fidencio and Catarina Alaniz; son, Ramon H. Bentancourt; and brothers, Idolio (Elva) Alaniz and Jose Alaniz. Left behind to cherish Zoila’s memories are her daughter-in-law, Gilda Bentancourt; granddaughter, Brenda (Rolando) Nunez; grandsons, Bob Brian (April) Bentancourt and Raymond (Clarissa) Bentancourt; niece, Sandy Alaniz; nephew, Tony Alaniz; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and extended family. The family will receive condolences on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, at Trevino Funeral Home Alice, at 120 E. Front St., with a  Holy Rosary to be recited at 10:00 AM. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at San Diego Cemetery, San Diego, Texas. Face masks must be worn, and social distancing must be practiced while attending services in this facility.
