Adela B. Curiel, born on October 21, 1921, to Felipe Baez and Cruz Perez in Laredo, Texas, passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2022, at the age of 100. Adela was a long-time resident of Alice, Texas. She was a loving, caring, and wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all who knew her. Adela was full of life, love, and laughter and will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.
Adela enjoyed sewing, embroidering, singing, and cooking. She was an extremely active member of the community and was also an active member of many clubs and organizations. She was a Guadalupaña at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, taught CCD, was an American Red Cross volunteer, was a past PTA President for Saenz Elementary, and a VFW auxiliary member. She was voted women of the year and won the award. She enjoyed writing herbal remedy books and doing presentations on uses of healing herbs.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Aristeo Curiel; daughter; Olivia C. Flores; son, Lionel Curiel; and three grandsons; Michael Lopez, David Rodriguez and Carlos Molina.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters; Adriana Crayne and Ana Rodriguez; son; Rafael Curiel (Blanca); and her 18 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive condolences on Friday, September 23, 2022, at Treviño Funeral Home Alice, 120 E. Front St., from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 12:30 PM. A funeral cortege will depart the funeral home at 1:00 PM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 1:30 PM. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at New Collins Cemetery
Pallbearers will be Ben Torres IV, Marcus Guerra, Ryan Espinosa, Nicholas Espinosa, Michael Curiel, Romeo Huff- Garza, Anthony Diaz, and Henry Molina.
