Arthur Mendez

Arthur Mendez of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away on November 17, 2021 at the age of 80. He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on October 25, 1941 to Jesus G. Mendez and Bertha B. Mendez.

Arthur was preceded in death by his mother, Bertha Barrera-Mendez; father, Jesus G. Mendez; and brothers, Lino and Albert Mendez.

Arthur retired from the United States Marine Corps as a 1st SGT; he also retired from CCAD where he worked as a sheet metal mechanic for 20 years. He was a Vietnam Veteran, a member of the American Legion Post in Corpus Christi, and member of the local PAGA. Arthur was an avid golfer, loved to fish, hunt, and play poker and dominos with his friends. 

Left behind to cherish his memories are his wife of 34 years, Calletana “Anna” Mendez; sons, Richard Mendez, Arthur Mendez Jr., and Carlos Mendez; siblings, Angelita (Fred+) Erst, Anita Mendez, Jesse (Nancy) Mendez, Adriana Luna-Elgas, and Amy Mendez; stepchildren, Debra (Robert) Garcia, Lisa Moya, and Robert (Veronica) Sandoval; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

The family will receive condolences on Monday, November 29, 2021, at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St. @ Port, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 11:30 AM. A Funeral cortege will depart the funeral home at 12:00 PM on Monday, November 29, 2021, to St. Joseph Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 12:30 PM. Rite of Committal and Interment with full military honors will follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery at 2:00 PM.

Face masks must be worn, and social distancing must be practiced while attending services in the facility.
