Dalia B. Casas
August 10, 1944 ~ November 27, 2023 (age 79) 79 Years Old
Dalia Betancourt Casas, beloved 79-year-old wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on November 27, 2023.
Dalia was born on August 10, 1944, to Santana and Aurora Betancourt. She was one of seven children and spent her childhood and teenage years picking cotton. Despite her third-grade education, Dalia became self-educated, literate, and modeled her incredible work ethic all throughout her life. Her favorite hobbies were getting together with the family on Clarkwood, celebrating birthdays at Hazel Bazemore Park, making tamales with her sisters, playing Bingo, working in her yard, and later in life, attending all her grandchildren’s events.
Dalia will be best remembered for her kind spirit, hospitality, and welcoming heart. She never went a day without fresh flowers by her bedside, courtesy of her husband, and she was most proud of her grandchildren. Her grandson, Romeo Garcia III, is currently serving in the Air Force in Japan, her granddaughter, Victoria, is a graduate student and current PreK teacher, and her youngest joy, Isabelle, is a current Miller band and theater student. Dalia’s world revolved around them and she seldom missed any event she was invited to.
She is preceded in death by her parents, all her siblings, and her son, Jesse Joe.
Dalia is survived by her husband of 52 years, Perfecto Noe Casas; son, Abel Cerda; daughters, Cynthia Cerda and Nora Casas-Garcia; beloved son-in- law, Romeo Garcia; and 13 grandchildren.
Our distinguished appreciation to Yolanda Lopez and her family for five years of not only being Dalia’s provider, but also for becoming family and caring for both Dalia and Noe. Her love was genuine, and her care ran deep. Her other caregiver, Janie, will forever be credited for providing attention, time, and care to Dalia in her last three years.
Dalia’s family will receive condolences on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St. @ Port Ave., from 9:00 AM until 11:30 AM. A Chapel Service will begin at 11:30 AM. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
